Judson University is a Christian college nestled along the Fox River in the city of Elgin, just 45 miles northwest of Chicago. Grandmothers might call our riverside campus “quaint.” We began on a private estate with one white-pillared Georgian mansion and a carriage house. Today our campus is home to fifteen buildings, from historic to modern in style. We’re still “quaint,” but we’re state-of-the-art, too. Judson is quickly gaining a reputation as an evangelical, “green” university. Our 88,000 square foot Harm A. Weber Academic Center, which is home to our library and School of Art, Design and Architecture, is a LEED Gold certified building and one of the most energy-efficient buildings of its kind in North America. Judson University is home to over 1,250 students from 30 states and 20 countries. We offer more than 50 undergraduate majors, minors and pre-professional programs and are currently the only evangelical Christian college or university to offer a fully-accredited graduate program in architecture. Judson’s adult undergraduate offerings include an Associate's of Liberal Arts degree and bachelor's degrees in: Applied Psychology, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, and Human Services. Graduate programs include the Master of Architecture, Master of Business Administration, Master of Organizational Leadership, Master of Leadership in Ministry, Master of Education in Literacy, Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Doctor of Education in Literacy. For working adults, we offer an associates of liberal arts degree and Judson University is an active “citizen” of the City of Elgin and is committed to serving the city’s needs through strong partnerships with businesses, schools and non-profit agencies. In 2013, Judson University celebrated its Golden Centennial Anniversary, commemorating fifty years since the college's relocation to Elgin in 1963. The school also recognize its roots with the Northern Theological Seminary, which was founded in 1913 as well as the school's affiliation with Adoniram Judson, the first American missionary abroad who traveled to Burma in 1813. Today, the university stays vibrant in the community by its participation in Alignment for Education, the Elgin Chamber of Commerce and several other nonprofit groups within Elgin. In 2017, the university opened a new campus in partnership with the Swedish American YWCA of Rockford. This new campus space within the Y offers many adult students the ability to use the childcare provided at the Y while they are in classes and to have a free membership for the services there. Judson is also home to the annual World Leaders Forum which has brought such world leaders as George W. Bush, Mikhail S. Gorbachev, Tony Blair, Condoleezza Rice, Felipe Calderon, Queen Noor of Jordan, Newt Gingrich and Howard Dean to Judson's campus since the event began in 2011. The World Leaders Forum offers our students and area professionals the opportunity to be in the presence of and be inspired by World Leaders. In 2015, the university began the World Leaders Forum Inspirational Series and has hosted Nick Vujicic, Mary Lou Retton and Jim Monroe to share their stories. Each year, the university hosts more than 10,000 guests to campus for one of its many events, such as the Chapel Series, Shark Tank competition, Welcome Weekend, Homecoming, Founders' Day, Lecture and Art Gallery exhibits, concerts from the Demoss Center of Worship in the Performing Arts, theatre, World Leader Forum, World Leader Forum Inspirational Series, Literacy in Motion, A Day at Judson, Annual Community Prayer Breakfast, summer camps, and hundreds of sporting events held throughout the summer. Judson is shaping lives every day on campus, in businesses, in our community and around the world.
